First Snow Man 2011

Today the weather was finally nice enough for us to go out and play in the snow. So, while Colton was napping Lauren and I decided to make a snowman (well Snowman Reindeer per Lauren's request as you will see). :-)
This was Lauren's first snowman ever and my first snowman in a long time. It was a lot of fun...I think I may have enjoyed it just as much as Lauren did (ok maybe a little more than she did...but who's telling!)
We decided our snowman should do the Matthew Maconahay lean...(an inside work joke as if you look at all the movie posters MM is in...he has a slight lean)
The final product. The eyes were made from red potatoes, the nose a sweet potato and the smile courtesy of a banana!
Lauren is 3 1/2 years old.

More Snow Pics

Our Little Musician?

The other night while taking a bath we were talking about how Kraig and Kristen were in the band in school and Lauren was saying she wanted to play instruments when she grows up. Kraig now plays the guitar so he told Lauren he would teach her how to play when she gets older...I said I would teach her how to sing. Then Kraig said "mommy can show you how to play the littles violin in the world too" and Lauren said "the violin"? Haha...thanks babe!

Snow/Ice-cation of 2011

So this is why we have stayed home the past 3 days with today being #4...it's the first Snowcation of 2011! I'm staying home again today because #1 the ice on the road and #2 the Throttle body on Kraig's truck is messed up and we are waiting on Chevy to get the part in...so we have 1 car right now. :-)
This is the ice and snow on our driveway...
View from our front door...
View from the street...

View down our street...
And this is the ice on the street/driveways, etc...
And on our house...

Our landscaping is totally covered...
This weather has been crazy! It's been -5 degrees this week! CRAZY! Our cars have been staying outside the garage so our Lab Bo can stay in the garage since it's so cold!
And it's supposed to snow another 2-3 inches today!
We have not been out in the snow this week because it's been too cold and the fact that ice is under the snow so if the kids fell it would hurt more...but if we get another 2-3 inches I see some snow playtime outside this weekend!

Laughter, Laughter and more Laughter

So after 3 days at home this is what it's come to...

Snow Days Routine

So today is day 3 of being at home with the kiddos due to the snow/ice we got Monday night. Things have been going rather smooth (much smoother than it has in the past). Here is our routine (just for my memory of what's going on in their current ages)
  • Wake up around 6:30 (45 min later than I normally wake up)
  • Eat breakfast (waffles and yogurt)
  • 9:30 am Colton's morning nap (normally 30 min to 1 hour)
  • 11:30 lunch
  • 1 pm Lauren's nap (normally about 2 hours)
  • 1:30 Colton's afternoon nap (normally 1 hour)
  • 3:30 snack time
  • 5:30 dinner (it usually is 6 or 6:30 but for some reason this week it's earlier)
  • 6:30 bath time
  • 7:30 Colton's bedtime (sleeps until 5 am...crys for 5 min and then goes back to sleep until 6:30...I've stopped going in to console him as we are 100% done nursing!)
  • 8:30 Lauren's bedtime (sleeps until 6:30-7 am...sometimes wakes up because of a bad dream but the last 2 nights has slept through the night without any wake ups!)

I have to say...I always thought I could not be a stay at home mom. I always thought it would have been easier if I would have started it when Lauren was a baby and grow into it gradually...instead of me starting when she is 3 1/2 and Colton is 15 months old...but so far the last 3 days have been really nice and have made me think that if I ever decided to stay home I could do it...not saying I am going to anytime soon (don't worry babe I know you are sweating right now) but at least I know if I needed to I could and would still be happy!

I love you Lolo and Colty! I have enjoyed the last 3 snow days with you!

On a side note Kraig let me know that I have not been as 'fun' to be around when he comes home the last 3 days as I thought I have been...so maybe this stay at home thing is not as good as I thought (laughing at myself now) because I can totally see how stay at home mom's would be resentful at their husbands for working out of the home. Ya know...they get to go out to lunch...they get a break from the craziness for a while, etc, while you don't...so while I have enjoyed spending time with my kiddos for 3 full days, I guess I am having some cabin fever after all. ;-) Props to all your stay at home moms though...you must have some really good deals worked out with your husbands so that you get some YOU time because I could see where that would be really hard having your job as the full time mommy and wife and never getting a break. So kudos to you!!!

Takin' Out The Trash

Lately Colton wants to put things in the trash...or push the can around...it's cheap entertainment for me! Last night I noticed one of his paci's in the trash and the day before he threw his sippy cup away! So this morning when he wanted to push around the trash I just put a clean bag in it and let him have at it. :-)

And yes...I did pull his paci and sippy cup out of the trash and off to the dishwasher it went! So don't worry...he didn't get them back dirty. ;-)

My Little Helper

Love this girl!
She wanted to help me fold towels...so I graciously let her! ;-)

Love These Guys!

Such a sweet moment between Colton and Kraig and I was lucky to catch it with my phone.
