Formula?

So Kraig and I are about to go on vacation with our friends Brian and Kimberly to St Johns! I can't wait!!! The bad news is I'm not sure I have enough milk stored for the full week now that my baby boy eats A LOT more than he used to. So last night Colton has his first formula bottle. We tried Similac Advance with Lauren and it upset her stomach, then switched Isomil (soy formula) and then eventually moved to Similac Sensitive because the other two upset her stomach. The Sensitive worked great so what did I do this time??? Bypass the first two and start out with Sensitive first with Colton! He did great! Drank a 6 ounce bottle and acted like he could have ate more! This will allow my family (who is keeping the kids while we are gone) to stretch out the Bmilk for the full week (hopefully) instead of having him on all Bmilk one day and then all formula going forward. The plan is to have him on Bmilk all day but formula at his bedtime bottle. I'm afraid if we make a hard switch it will upset his stomach #1 and #2 since I plan to continue nursing when I get back I don't want him to get used to all formula and no Bmilk. :-) So if this is too much info for you...sorry...I just like to document everything! LOL So I wanted a date on here so I would know when Colton had his first formula bottle and it was when he was 7 months, 1 week and 1 day old. :-)
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone! We will!!!!

Playing ball with Nana

We have really enjoyed staying at Nana and Papaw's house as they have been so gracious to us while our house is under construction. Yesterday Nana was teaching Lauren how to catch the soccer ball and Lauren was loving it!!! Thanks Nana!

My baby is 7 months old!

I can't believe that 7 months have already gone by! My sweet baby boy has gone from only sleeping and eating 24/7 to all the things below! Its amazing how fast time goes by and how much you learn in 7 months! At this point you have had 2 ear infections. Once you are over your ear infections we are going to work on your sleeping through the night, but for now I'm enjoying our time together at night! I know one day you will not want me at night anymore so I'm soaking up the quality time now!
Things you are doing at 7 months -
  • laughing
  • rolling from back to belly and belly to back
  • talking or shall I say experimenting with your voice (we are working on mama) :-)
  • eating baby food 2 or 3 times a day (you are such a pro now I can't get the spoon to your mouth fast enough without you already opening your mouth waiting for another bite!)
  • sitting up (still not too good at this but we are working on it)
  • waking up 2 times a night to eat
  • reach for stuff on the floor and switch things from one hand to the other
  • putting anything and everything in your mouth (your daddy had to rescue you from a dvd wrapper the other day thanks to your friendly sister sharing it with you.) :-)
  • following us around a room with your eyes
  • cry when we walk out of the room however you have not started crying when we leave you at school yet so that is nice! Its hard for me to leave once you start that...right Lolo?
  • Make a pout lip face/cry when you are upset and then 2 seconds later are smiling when we pick you up (you are working us!) LOL
We love you SO much Colton and are SO happy God gave you to us!

Shrek!

Paramount held a screening of Shrek the 4th last night so I took Lauren with me along with Aunt Tammy, Katlyn and Austin while Kraig kept Colton. We had a great time! Thanks for going with us! The movie was funny…Lauren hates the previews though because all 3D previews has a part where a little robot breaks the glass so that you can see how your 3d glasses work. Well we had them on her at the How to Train your Dragon movie and she freaked out…so at Shrek she never even wore her glasses and when that little robot came on she started screaming and I kept saying LOOK AT MOMMY! And covering her eyes…she kept saying she wanted to go home…but I knew once the movie started she would be ok. She sat in my lap the full movie which I enjoyed! She would laugh and talk, etc…it was cute. The best part about it was Kraig met us at Chick Fil A so I could pick her up there (half way) and the two of us have dinner together before the movie. Well the whole time we were eating she would take a bite and then reach over and kiss me or take a bite and give me a hug…she was just so excited to see Shrek! It was cute!
Thanks for my all Star outfit Aunt Tammy! I look so cute if I do say so myself! :-)

Nana and Papaw's House

We like staying at Nana and Papaw's house while our house is under construction!
I get to take bath's in baby Ava's pink tub...

And use Nana's comb to make my hair all fuzzy!

I get to dance around like a princess with my new butterfly headband from Mary Katlyn's Cottage (thanks Felecia).

My little man is not himself...

At the Dr.'s Office

Sunday night Colton started having a runny nose which I chalked up to teething because he is also chewing on everything and slobbering on his clothes. Well Sunday night my cool, calm and collected happy baby boy was no longer those things. :-( He wailed and cried like I have never heard him before! So Monday I took him to the Dr. at 8:40 a.m. and by 9 we had the diagnosis that he has ear infections in both ears. He had this 3 weeks ago and the dr said that the meds were probably just not strong enough that they didn't heal it...they just made the pain go away for a bit. So now we are starting a new antibiotic (Cefdinir) that should kill the virus. My baby boy and I didn't get much sleep Sunday or Monday night as the only way he could sleep was to sleep on my chest upright which meant I slept sitting up (not the most comfortable position but you do what you have to when your kids are sick!)...and at that it was only for about maybe 30 minutes at a time as I would say we were up every hour at least 1 time. Most of the time both nights, we walked the floor bouncing or I sat up not able to move because if I moved he woke up. Due to the construction we are staying at Nana and Papaw Beck's house so Kraig, Lauren, me and Colton are all in one room so while I'm consoling Colton Kraig was trying to keep Lauren asleep. The funny part was Monday night Lauren woke up and said "mommy, he wants to eat!" like "shut him up mommy!" LOL I stayed home with him Monday and Tuesday because he was just not himself....I spent all day Monday holding him so he could sleep because if I put him down he just cried (pressure on the ears). Then yesterday was a bit better as he actually played some so I was able to get some work done from home. Last night was wonderful with him only waking up 2 or 3 times! He did sleep on my chest again...and at 5 a.m. pooped 3 times in a row (just after i changed each diaper of course)! The other funny story is that since we are staying at Kraig's moms spare bedroom it's a room I'm not used to so it's very dark and in the middle of the night Monday night Colton was screaming and I knew it was time for more Tylenol...so I'm searching for it in the dark...finally found it and kept pushing the button on my phone to get some light to make sure I'm giving him the correct dosage. Well I had just bought this Tylenol so the bottle was nice and full but at 2 am with no sleep and pure darkness that was the last thing I'm thinking about. So I get the dosage out and put the bottle in the same hand as the dropper so I can use my other hand to again push my phone for 2 seconds of light. Well when I put the dropper up to his mouth to give him Tylenol (which meant tilting my hand toward his face) the bottle of Tylenol spilled all down the side of his stomach! So needless to say he got a Tylenol bath at 2 am followed by a change of clothes and a wipe bath...all in the dark! :-) Oh well...I'm just glad it didn't pour directly into his mouth!!! Oh the things we go through when our kids are sick! I'm just happy he is starting to feel better and i could be there for him when he needed me!

Our family lost a wonderful Grandmother last Tuesday, May 4th. Grandma Laura, who lived in California, lived a great life full of family, friends, happiness and spunk! You are missed Grandma Laura but we know you are now with our wonderful Heavenly Father and we will see you again one day! Click here to view her obituary.
