Nana and Papaw's House

We like staying at Nana and Papaw's house while our house is under construction!
I get to take bath's in baby Ava's pink tub...

And use Nana's comb to make my hair all fuzzy!

I get to dance around like a princess with my new butterfly headband from Mary Katlyn's Cottage (thanks Felecia).

My little man is not himself...

At the Dr.'s Office

Sunday night Colton started having a runny nose which I chalked up to teething because he is also chewing on everything and slobbering on his clothes. Well Sunday night my cool, calm and collected happy baby boy was no longer those things. :-( He wailed and cried like I have never heard him before! So Monday I took him to the Dr. at 8:40 a.m. and by 9 we had the diagnosis that he has ear infections in both ears. He had this 3 weeks ago and the dr said that the meds were probably just not strong enough that they didn't heal it...they just made the pain go away for a bit. So now we are starting a new antibiotic (Cefdinir) that should kill the virus. My baby boy and I didn't get much sleep Sunday or Monday night as the only way he could sleep was to sleep on my chest upright which meant I slept sitting up (not the most comfortable position but you do what you have to when your kids are sick!)...and at that it was only for about maybe 30 minutes at a time as I would say we were up every hour at least 1 time. Most of the time both nights, we walked the floor bouncing or I sat up not able to move because if I moved he woke up. Due to the construction we are staying at Nana and Papaw Beck's house so Kraig, Lauren, me and Colton are all in one room so while I'm consoling Colton Kraig was trying to keep Lauren asleep. The funny part was Monday night Lauren woke up and said "mommy, he wants to eat!" like "shut him up mommy!" LOL I stayed home with him Monday and Tuesday because he was just not himself....I spent all day Monday holding him so he could sleep because if I put him down he just cried (pressure on the ears). Then yesterday was a bit better as he actually played some so I was able to get some work done from home. Last night was wonderful with him only waking up 2 or 3 times! He did sleep on my chest again...and at 5 a.m. pooped 3 times in a row (just after i changed each diaper of course)! The other funny story is that since we are staying at Kraig's moms spare bedroom it's a room I'm not used to so it's very dark and in the middle of the night Monday night Colton was screaming and I knew it was time for more Tylenol...so I'm searching for it in the dark...finally found it and kept pushing the button on my phone to get some light to make sure I'm giving him the correct dosage. Well I had just bought this Tylenol so the bottle was nice and full but at 2 am with no sleep and pure darkness that was the last thing I'm thinking about. So I get the dosage out and put the bottle in the same hand as the dropper so I can use my other hand to again push my phone for 2 seconds of light. Well when I put the dropper up to his mouth to give him Tylenol (which meant tilting my hand toward his face) the bottle of Tylenol spilled all down the side of his stomach! So needless to say he got a Tylenol bath at 2 am followed by a change of clothes and a wipe bath...all in the dark! :-) Oh well...I'm just glad it didn't pour directly into his mouth!!! Oh the things we go through when our kids are sick! I'm just happy he is starting to feel better and i could be there for him when he needed me!

Our family lost a wonderful Grandmother last Tuesday, May 4th. Grandma Laura, who lived in California, lived a great life full of family, friends, happiness and spunk! You are missed Grandma Laura but we know you are now with our wonderful Heavenly Father and we will see you again one day! Click here to view her obituary.
Below are pictures of Grandma Laura throughout her life. Enjoy!
This is the spunkiness I'm talking about! LOL

Colton's 6 Month Checkup

We took Colton to his 6 month check up this morning. All is well but he has a double ear infection. Other than that he is a happy chubby boy!
Stats:
Weight 18.5 pounds
Height: 26.4 inches
Head size: 17.74 inches
What does this all mean?
He is in the 75th percentile for his weight, 50th percentile for his height and 80th percentile for his head size. :-)

He received the following shots/immunizations:
Rotateq 2.0 mL PO
Prevnar 0.5 mL IM
Pentacel 0.5 mL IM
hep B o.5 mL IM
He is still waking up 2-3 times a night to eat but it is mainly habit now so after he gets over his ear infections we are going to work on him waking up only 1 time a night. I don’t mind getting up with him at all as I’m not one to need sleep…however we waited way too long to form this habit with Lauren so we want to start it sooner than later with Colton so we don’t have to go through the screaming/crying fit when he is a year old like we did with Lauren. :-)
Just woke up from a nap so he wanted to snuggle daddy.

Taking his measurements...

Look at me! I'm a big boy now!!!
Dr Furlow, my ears hurt! :-(
At 6 months Colton is doing the following...
  • Going to bed around 8:30 p.m. and waking up at 12, 3 and 5 a.m. to eat
  • Sitting up for a few seconds and then falling over
  • Mimicking sounds and mouth movements of others
  • Holding things and trying to bring them to your mouth
  • Chewing on everything (teething but no teeth have broken through the skin yet)
  • Blowing bubbles
  • Pulling your feet up to your face constantly and taking your socks off
  • Interested in new sounds, colors, etc
  • Following people with your eyes all the way across the room

Welcome Home Daddy!

Daddy went on his annual fishing trip with the boys so Colton and I got to hang out with Mommy all weekend! Friday after work mommy stopped by the store and bought me some new glitter glue colors! I love them!!! She bought this poster board so we could make a sign for daddy's return today! I hope he likes it!

How To Train Your Dragon in 3D!

My mommy took me to see the movie How To Train Your Dragon in 3D yesterday! I got to wear these cool 3d glasses...however I have to say I'm not a fan of the hand coming through the movie in the previews! It scared me so bad I screamed in the theater and didn't want to wear my cool glasses for the movie! I did get to sit with Katlyn and my cousin Brandy though...so that was cool! My little brother was being a total baby and wanted mom to hold him the whole time! Geez...cry baby! I did like the movie though because on the way home I said "that was a good movie!" to my mommy and she seemed surprised at my words since I screamed at the previews...AND since I'm now just saying new things all the time! I guess I had never said that to her before so she didn't know that I knew what that sentence meant...I AM almost 3 mom!

Lauren's New Obsession...

Can you look at this picture and figure out what Lolo's new obsession is?
It's GUM! About two weeks ago she asked for a piece of gum and I had given her a piece last summer (well actually Aunt Tammy gave her one...:-)) and at that time she just swallowed it. So I thought well it is a year later...so we tried it and she actually chewed it and didn't swallow it! Ever since she has wanted a piece of gum EVERYDAY! LOL

House Updates 2010

So a few months ago Kraig and I thought about moving...a month in we decided that it would just be better to do a bit of remodeling to our current house. So below are pictures of the progress we are making.
Adding a 2nd bonus room upstairs and added a side fence to so we can keep our dogs on one side and have the full backyard to ourselves for cookouts, to let the kids play, etc. :-)
More pics to come!

Lauren and Colton's New Cousins Noah and Wyatt

We had the pleasure of meeting our new baby cousins Monday night and oh they are so adorable!!! Morgan and Seth welcomed baby Wyatt 2 weeks ago today and Meagan and David welcomed their cute baby boy Noah 3 weeks ago. Thanks for letting us visit! We had a great time and I know Lauren LOVED playing with all of Noah's toys! It was great to see you all. We need to get together more often!

The new families! Seth, Wyatt, Morgan, David, Noah and Meagan.
Parenthood looks great on all of you!
P.S. You are not seeing double...Meagan and Morgan are twins and were due within a few weeks of each other. Meagan who was due 2nd actually had baby Noah first! Isn't that crazy!
