This year instead of driving all the way there in one day we split it up and it was super easy! Lauren had a little stomach bug on Friday when we left and threw up once at home and then once in the car (right after we got on I-540) but then was fine. So thank God she was feeling better after 24 hours and no one else got it!
After a little drive in the car the kids both fell asleep as we left town just after 12 noon Friday (their normal nap time).
We stayed the night in Vicksburg, MS and then got up and drove the other half to Destin. This is the underground tunnel in Mobile, AL and the Navy boats, etc just after you come out of the tunnel.
King and Queen hats from Burger King always make a trip fun!
Saturday afternoon once we got checked in the first thing we did was go to the pool!
Sunday morning we went to the beach for a bit...Lauren loved it and Colton got more and more used to it but still never loved the water...he wanted to stay up on the sand and build things.
We had dinner at Russ and Sue's condo two nights during the week so here are pic's of the kids having fun!
Colton = 2 years and 7 months, Lauren = turned 5 the Sunday we got back from vacation
Kieran = 3 years and 1 month, Ava = 1 year and 10 months
Tuesday night we had a group dinner out at the Fisherman's Warf area in Baytown Sandestin.
This was also the night I had contractions for 3 hours straight (from 7-10 pm) and we had to leave dinner early but all turned out fine and the contractions stopped. Guess I overdid it that day at the beach/pool.
Swimming fun
Colton playing with a monster truck on the last day at the pool (this boy loves trains and cars!)
The kids did AMAZING this year at swimming! Lauren was jumping off the side of the pool and going all the way under and coming up not afraid of getting water in her eyes/mouth/etc. Colton was more adventurous this year than he has been in the past (probably because he see's Lauren doing stuff and he wants to be big like her). He was jumping in the water also and would go under sometimes but would rather jump in and keep his head above water. :-) Lauren even went under the waterfall this year so that was big for her!
Here they are swimming together. Lauren kept trying to get Colton to jump to her in the water, and he would...but I was more afraid he would not jump far enough or she would not catch him...so this time he was standing on the ledge (in the water where people normally sit) and she came over and picked him up in the water and then was being a true big sister and carrying him around the pool, etc. I'm really enjoying this stage right now because yes they fight...but Lauren is also playing 'mommy' sometimes and saying "here Bubby" or "let me show you how that works Bubby" and Colton is saying "come here sissy" or "look sissy" so it's really cute!
Family dinner just the four of us at Bistro Bijoux (I can only say "the four of us" for a few more weeks!)
We ended up eating here two nights during the week because the food was so good. Once just because and once for our 9 year anniversary dinner!
