Saturday we decided it was time to get rid of the pacifier since the only times she used a paci anymore was to go to sleep at nap time and night time and Kraig was really worried it was messing up her pallet in her mouth. So when Lauren woke up from her nap we said we had to wash her paci's because they were dirty. When it was bed time I put her down with a cup of milk (not the norm because it's bad for their teeth). Well, she did great! Never complained. Sunday during her nap time she cried for an hour wanting her paci but I would not give in. After an hour of crying Kraig and I went in and got her out of bed. She was happy about that but still asked for her paci. We told her it was dirty so she could not have it. Then Sunday night I put her down again with a cup of milk but it didn't work as good. She still wanted a paci...but luckily it only lasted 5 minutes and then she went to sleep. Monday I took her to school and told them No Paci! One teacher said that the other teachers were trying to give it to her but she threw it away so they could not. The next day I asked some of her teachers about the paci situation and they acted like she did fine and never asked for it. :-) So there were two different stories there...but hey, at least she was not getting a paci right?!?!?! Monday night was better as she asked for it but we replaced her paci with a book so she got to take a book to bed with her. Tuesday again no paci at school! Tuesday night she asked for it but didn't cry about it. Wednesday no paci at school! Wednesday night we let her drink her milk on the couch by us...brushed her teeth and then read a book. Thursday still no paci at school! Finally Thursday night she NEVER mentioned the paci! So my story is this...it was not as bad as we thought it was going to be. Getting her to sleep in her crib was MUCH worse than this so we probably should have gotten rid of the paci a while back...but hey, at least we are getting rid of it before baby Colton arrives! I didn't want to wait and try to have her get rid of it after he arrives and have her see him with one and not understand why he could have one but she could not and resent him for it. So I'm crossing my fingers...but maybe tonight was the sign that she is over it? We shall see! :-)
