Pee Pee on the Potty! (22 months)

GO COLTON!!!
Last Tuesday I got this report from school.
Notice the 'potty' times at 9:50 and 11 am!
I also like how the teacher said "He was so excited and pleased with himself when I cheered him on! He just smiled and laughed!" I can totally see him doing that. He is becoming Mr. Independent! My baby is growing up!

And yesterday I got another 'good potty' report!
He went 4 times yesterday!!!

Looks like it's almost potty training time for Colton!!!! YAY!

Uh Oh Cavity-O!

And Mom of the Year Award goes to...me...NOT!

I noticed last week what I thought was food in Lauren’s tooth. I brushed it out…I thought. Well tonight I noticed it again…this time I got a tooth pick out and was trying to pick out the dark spot but it would not move. Well bad mom of the year award goes to…ME! I think it’s a cavity. :-( What 4 year old gets a cavity? The one that went to bed with a sippy cup of milk until she was 3…the one that her parents didn’t brush her teeth every night, etc. (not to mention she doesn’t have genetics on her side…Kraig has had issues since he was a kid...yes honey I'm blaming the genetics part on you...the not brushing every night...that's my fault!). So we have an appointment Thursday morning at 8:30 in Fayetteville for her first ever check up. It was scheduled for October 4th and I was going to take both kids at the same time…but when I saw the dark spot on her tooth yesterday I decided we needed to take her in ASAP. So I just called the dentist (NW Pediatric Dental Associates in Fayetteville) and they are getting us in Thursday at 8:30 a.m.. I guess Lauren won't be on their Cavity Free Club. Geez! Lesson learned...brush her teeth twice a day everyday! The good news is she doesn't take milk to bed anymore and hasn't for a year...so hopefully this is the only damage we have done so far.

Wackie Wednesday!

Just Imagine...
A woman wearing a nice work dress shirt with pajama pants and flip flips and a little girl in her pajama's and a little boy in his pajama's neither wearing shoes riding in a Wal-Mart shopping cart. Well THAT WAS ME Wednesday night! LOL

We had to take the kids to the Dr. Wednesday night because #1 Lauren fell on a box at school and was complaining it hurt when she went potty and #2 Colton started running a slight fever (101.5) at school. So while I was going to take Lauren in I thought I would take Colton too even thought I just knew his was teething.

The Dr. looked at Lauren's bottom and found a bruise on her leg and two cuts on her bottom. Basically she fell on this box at school straddling it and cutting her bottom in two places. :-( Poor girl...every time she went potty the pee would burn the cuts so for the first 24 hours she was just screaming when she would go pee. We would of course squat down to her level and hug her while she was going to the bathroom in hopes that it made her feel better. She did ask that today I ask her teachers to hug her while she goes potty at school. :-) I of course told her teachers that and they said "of course!" which made me feel better.

The Dr. was asking about Colton's symptoms and I said "he started running a fever at school today but he is a late teether so I'm sure it's just teething". He asked if he had a runny nose or cough lately and I said "yes he has had a runny nose for a week now but I'm pretty sure it's because of the rain we have received lately as he has bad allergies". The Dr. checked him out...ears, nose, throat, etc and said "his ears look good but his throat is a little red...can we do a strep test?" and I thought 'I'm already here...sure'. So they ran the test and about 15 minutes later came back and the Dr. said "well I'm shocked but the test was positive!". I was like WHAT? He has no symptoms! So I think we caught it early which is good!

So the Dr. gave us a cream for Lauren's bottom and a prescription for Colton's antibiotics. They were to be ready at the WM Neighborhood Market in Springdale. Kraig went to pick them up and it was apparently a very busy night for them...he said there were around 20 people in line! It was finally his turn and they only had Colton's medicine! They said they were out of Lauren's and they were too busy to call other stores to see if any other WM pharmacies carried it that we would have to call around if we needed it tonight. :-( So Kraig brought home Colton's medicine and I started calling around. The WM at Pleasant Grove had the same story...they were out. I called the WM Springdale and luckily they had it. After three calls back and forth between pharmacies the prescription was finally transferred! About 20 minutes later they called saying it was ready. Kraig had dinner plans with Mr. Bruton so I loaded up the kids (7:30 pm by now) and thought 'I'll just drive through the pharmacy drive through and be home soon'. Well I didn't know that Springdale was the ONLY WM without a pharmacy drive through! So the kids and I went into WM in our pj's and picked up the prescription. I'm sure we are not the worst dressed family that store has ever seen...but it was pretty comical to me!

Luckily both kids are feeling better today and are both at school. I just had to share my WM story with everyone...sometimes a mom just has to go with the flow (more often than not) and laugh about it later!

Happy Friday everyone!

Branson Weekend 2011

This weekend we went to Branson with my family while Kraig played in a golf tournament at Springdale Country Club (he ended up 6th out of 86 teams!).

Every year my family (mom & dad, Aunt Brenda & Uncle Lenard, Tammy and family, etc) goes to Branson in August to watch a car show. We spent Saturday swimming at the hotel pool, and then I took Lauren to White Water's Night Swim (from 5-10) with my sister Tammy and her family. We had a great time! It was nice to have some one on one time with Lauren...thanks mom for keeping Colton!

After White Water we went back to the hotel and planned to stay up for the car show (which started at 12 midnight!). We did our best but around 11:30 pm Colton had had it...so I went to the room with him. Lauren stayed with Tammy but right at 12 she put her head on Tammy's shoulder and started to fall asleep...so she brought her to my room. The kids slept in until 8 am Sunday morning. We left the hotel around 9:30 am and I had season passes to Silver Dollar City so I thought "I can do this by myself"! So I took the kids to SDC by myself for the first time. We only stayed 2 hours but that was Lauren's choice not mine (but I went with it!). Since there are only a few rides for the kids to ride she rode each one a few times (including Colton riding some a few times) and then she decided it was time to leave. I said "Lauren we can go ride these one more time and then leave and get some lunch or we can go now" and she said "mom, lets just go home I'm tired". :-)

It was a very eventful weekend! Thanks family for spending the time with us...it was very nice to spend it with you!

Lauren wanted to do everything that Katlyn did...even put her shoes next to hers!

SDC!

Lauren rode the tea cups by herself for the first time!

The kids stayed up until about 20 minutes from home! Needless to say they slept great Sunday night from all the fun and little sleep!

Lauren's 4 Year Check Up

Today was Lauren's 4 year check up at NW Pediatrics in Fayetteville with Dr. Furlow. Yes...she did turn 4 in June...but this working mother of two forgot to make her appointment until July! LOL So I took the day off today to spend with her since she got her Kindergarten shots (can you believe it...next year she will be in Kindergarten) and flu shot! We spent the day at daddy's work, had lunch at Wendy's and went to the movie theater to see Rio (for $5 I might add...cheap!). My baby girl is growing up too fast before my eyes and I'm so proud of the girl she is becoming! She didn't cry during the shots...only after for a short period of time when she saw one arm was bleeding. She got a prize (Barbie) at Target after the movie for being such a big girl! What's the stats on our big girl you ask?

  • Weight: 36.05 pounds (50th percentile)

  • Height: 41.50 inches (75th percentile)

  • Shots received:

    • Varicella 0.5 mL SC (chickenpox)

    • MMR 0.5 mL SC (measles, mumps and rubella)

    • Kinrix (4-6y) 0.5 mL IM (Tetanus)

    • Flu Vaccine (Nasal Mist)

    • Laying down while daddy explains she will be getting shots. Little did we know that after 3 the shots go in the arms not the legs. She still did great!

Colton's Swim Lessons 2011 - Day 2

This is Colton's 2nd year to go to the Swim Ranch in Fayetteville. He is not so sure about it this year...he would much rather be in a floatie just floating around the pool. :-) He at least got to share the fun with his cousin Ava!

Pictures are from July 16th...I'm a little behind on adding them.

So Far So Good at the New School

I like how this says Lauren was 'chatty' her first day...really?!?! Not my little princess. :-)

And here how it says Colton was playing with cars. Not a big shocker there! LOL

It's A New Day At Bright Haven

Four years ago Kraig and I decided that we would start our kids at Coleman's Children's Academy in Springdale.  The last four years have been great, however the first week of June they closed the location we had been going too.  We decided that we would move the kids to the Coleman's in Lowell and if that didn't work out we would look for something different.  We always said that if there was ever a time that we were not happy with the care or the kids were not happy we would move.  Yesterday we decided that a change could be a good thing.  We don't have bad things to say about Coleman's, but we just felt that they started growing too fast and the care they were getting when Lauren started four years ago was not the same care they were currently getting.  The Lowell location has had a lot of turn over since we started there two months ago so we decided that it was time to try something new.  Our friends The Farmers and The Judkins go to Bright Haven and it's close to Kraig's work, so I stopped in yesterday (had toured it in June when our daycare location was closing) to see if they had openings.  They did for both kids...and the enrollment fee was waived for August, so we are going to try them and see how it goes.  Since we have not paid an enrollment fee we are not losing anything!  So with that said I have to share a story about Lauren that just melts my heart!

Last night I noticed Lauren’s fingernails were a bit long (when I was putting her to bed).  I told her that in the morning we would need to cut her fingernails so that she doesn’t scratch anyone at school.  She said “why mom?  Because you know that Abby and I are going to hold hands and you don’t want me to scratch her?”  My heart just melted!

Abby is a girl that used to go to Coleman’s but changed to Bright Haven when Coleman’s closed their Springdale location in May/June.  We moved to Coleman’s Lowell and they moved to Bright Haven.  We have been looking at American Girl magazines lately and asking Lauren which doll she wanted and she always said “this one that looks like Abby”.  Well I didn’t realize that Abby didn’t go to Coleman’s anymore when she was saying this…thought it must have been a friend at her current daycare.  So needless to say, my heart was very happy last night when she said that because I can just imagine Lauren and Abby being reunited this morning and holding hands all day long!  J

So far so good this morning…Colton cried a little but Lauren did great!  Hopefully they have a great day at the new school!
