So Far So Good at the New School

It's A New Day At Bright Haven

Four years ago Kraig and I decided that we would start our kids at Coleman's Children's Academy in Springdale.  The last four years have been great, however the first week of June they closed the location we had been going too.  We decided that we would move the kids to the Coleman's in Lowell and if that didn't work out we would look for something different.  We always said that if there was ever a time that we were not happy with the care or the kids were not happy we would move.  Yesterday we decided that a change could be a good thing.  We don't have bad things to say about Coleman's, but we just felt that they started growing too fast and the care they were getting when Lauren started four years ago was not the same care they were currently getting.  The Lowell location has had a lot of turn over since we started there two months ago so we decided that it was time to try something new.  Our friends The Farmers and The Judkins go to Bright Haven and it's close to Kraig's work, so I stopped in yesterday (had toured it in June when our daycare location was closing) to see if they had openings.  They did for both kids...and the enrollment fee was waived for August, so we are going to try them and see how it goes.  Since we have not paid an enrollment fee we are not losing anything!  So with that said I have to share a story about Lauren that just melts my heart!

Last night I noticed Lauren’s fingernails were a bit long (when I was putting her to bed).  I told her that in the morning we would need to cut her fingernails so that she doesn’t scratch anyone at school.  She said “why mom?  Because you know that Abby and I are going to hold hands and you don’t want me to scratch her?”  My heart just melted!

Abby is a girl that used to go to Coleman’s but changed to Bright Haven when Coleman’s closed their Springdale location in May/June.  We moved to Coleman’s Lowell and they moved to Bright Haven.  We have been looking at American Girl magazines lately and asking Lauren which doll she wanted and she always said “this one that looks like Abby”.  Well I didn’t realize that Abby didn’t go to Coleman’s anymore when she was saying this…thought it must have been a friend at her current daycare.  So needless to say, my heart was very happy last night when she said that because I can just imagine Lauren and Abby being reunited this morning and holding hands all day long!  J

So far so good this morning…Colton cried a little but Lauren did great!  Hopefully they have a great day at the new school!

Lauren's Swim Lessons 2011 - Day 2 - Lane 1

Yesterday was day two of Lauren's 2011 Swim Lessons at Swim Ranch in Fayetteville.  She is now in the bigger class called Lane 1.  There are two teachers to 4 kids so they get lots of one on one attention which is nice.  Kraig went Monday and I went yesterday and was able to see something very surprising!  Scroll down for the 'big moment'!

Colton's Movie Spot

Recently Colton has started climbing up on the couch and covering himself up with a blanket anytime he wants to watch the movie Cars, Maters Toons!  It's hilarious.  We can be anywhere in the house and he will say "Car Movie" (not that clear...more like Ka-Mo-ie) and I'll say "ok, lets go" and he will run into the living room and climb on the couch and make himself comfortable for the big show!  I love it!

I'm Not Crazy...I Just Can't Count

If I have seen you recently and we talked about the age of my kids...I'm sorry but I was apparently confused!  I know I have ran into a few people lately and they say "how old are your kids" and I would say "Lauren just turned 4 in June and Colton will be 22 months on the 19th".  Well apparently I can't count!  Colton JUST TURNED 21 months in July!  Not 22!  Ha!  So to those of you that have seen me lately...I'm not crazy...just a little sleep deprived and stressed from work I guess.  Please forgive me.  ;-)  This cutie just turned 21 months yesterday!

Vegas - May 2011

In May, I was lucky enough to go on a girls trip to Vegas for Melissa's bachelorette party with Melissa (the bride), Kristen (my sister-in-law), Rebecca (Melissa's cousin) and Jennifer (Melissa's friend)! We had a wonderful time hanging out at the pool at Mandalay Bay, walking up and down the strip, eating fantastic dinners, getting all dressed up and going out dancing! It was my first trip with Rebecca (she is a hoot!) and Jennifer (she was a trooper...she is prego with her 2nd child) and let me just say all the girls were wonderful and I'm now happy to call them all friends! I look forward to our next girls trip!

Our first stop was to take the limo through the drive through of In-N-Out Burger!

That night we went to dinner at Aureole. They have Wine Angels that will 'fly' up the wine tower and bring down the bottle of wine for your table!

Then after dinner the first night we had a surprise for Melissa and took her to a show (TDU). She of course kept the 'reserved' sign close by to let everyone know that she was 'reserved' for Mr Jeremy Emmett! We were all a little nervous about how she would react to the show, but since it was fun and tasteful (and was not a strip club) she was in. And because she was a bachelorette we got into a club after the show for free and had free drinks until midnight! Score!

The second night we had dinner at Top of the World. Great view!

Saturday night Melissa and Jennifer went to see Phantom of the Opera...but before their show we all went to Wolf Gang Pucks restaurant Postrio in the Venetian. Great food by the way!

Thanks girls for letting this mom of two be 'cool again' for a few days! I had a great time!

Seth Carrolton Holt Has Arrived

My sister Bobye had her baby boy Seth last week on July 3rd at 7:28 am!

He weighed in a whopping 9 lbs 15 oz and was 23 inches long!

I waited to post this until they had time to show him off to friends and family and make their own 'announcement'.
