Waiting for baby Kieran

Last night we got the call around 6:30 p.m. that it was time to head to the hospital for baby Kieran Mackenzie's birth (Lauren's new cousin). Click here Ryan & Lisa's shower to see Kieran's parents. So while we were in the waiting area, Lauren was having fun with the light board. I have to say I was a little disappointed with the board because it says "interactive" board, however we tried and tried to push on the wall and get it to light up and nothing...so I think it's just a set program that runs. :-( Oh well...Lauren still liked it!
Action Shots...
We have got to get rid of the paci! Any ideas?

(I will post some photos of baby Kieran once her parents get the opportunity to post some on their blog. I want them to have the joy of "announcing" their own birth. :-))

Poison Control

Ok, so for most of you (me included) the first thing you don't expect to hear when walking in your door is "I'm tempted to call poison control"! I was like "what happened" and Kraig proceeded to tell me that he walked out of the room for a second and came back and noticed Lauren had something in her mouth. When he went over to check it out he realized that she had the little white paper things that come in shoe boxes that say "DO NOT CONSUME" in her mouth and they were open. He said her mouth was full of the little beads that are in those packages. So he of course wiped her mouth out and then heard me coming in so he handed her to me and told me to rinse her mouth out really good over and over. So as I'm trying to show her how to get water in her mouth without swallowing it and spit it out in the sink (not very successful by the way because she just kept swallowing it) he was trying to decide what to do. He finally called one of our Dr. friends and left a message and then called poison control. Good news! According to the poison control hot line this is one of their most called about incidences...and they are not harmful! When our Dr. friend called us back he was laughing and said "oh my kid ate a whole package of that stuff" so we felt much better! But another lesson learned for us...when we get new shoes, throw away those little white packages instantly! Don't think "I'll do it later" because there might not be a later the next time!
**LET ME ADD THAT THE POISON CONTROL CENTER SAID THESE WERE NOT HARMFUL IN SMALL AMOUNTS! I don't want someone to read this and think their child can swallow a full boxful and be ok...just a disclaimer. :-)

Puppies

The other day we were outside and Lauren wanted to talk to the puppies. First she went over and talked to our neighbors dogs (Murphy and Harley) and then she thought she would give some love to our dogs (Hunter and Bo) too! She loves animals!

Dress Up

Nana and Papaw Beck got Lauren some new dresses while they were away on Spring Break last week. When Lauren saw them she loved them...the only problem is she wanted to wear them both at the same time...over the clothes she already had on (see the jeans)! Take a look...
Dress #1

And Dress #1 & 2
Thanks Nana and Papaw!

New Trick

About two months ago we had to go out and buy door knob covers...you will see why. :-)

Monsters vs. Aliens

So today Lauren and I went to the movie theater for the first time! We met my sister Tammy and her kids Katlyn and Austin. We all had a great time and Lauren did SO good! She sat in every one's lap and enjoyed the movie which was 1 hr and 45 minutes long! So it was longer than I expected and Lauren never got upset or out of control...well that is until we left the play area. She wanted to be a big girl and climb on everything herself and slide down the slide etc. So she was mad when we had to leave and kept yelling "slide, slide!!!" But once she realized that Katlyn and Austin were leaving too she was ok...well ok until she realized Katlyn and Austin were not going with us. :-( She really enjoyed spending time with them today!
Outside before we saw the movie.
Photo op before the movie with the Monsters vs. Alien's sign.
Another photo op with Night at the Museum.
Our first movie experience went really well! I'm very proud of you baby girl!
After the movie we let the kids play in the outside play area. Lauren loved it!

Climbing on everything like a big girl...

Another slide she loved!

Sleeping Comfortably

When I put Lauren down for her nap Sunday it didn't take her very long to go to sleep. So when I knew she was asleep I went in to check on her and this is what I found. Not only does she have her leg through the crib just "hangin' out" but she has her favorite blanket, 3 pacifiers and a kitty cat stuffed animal as a pillow! Wow! She knows what she is doing! LOL

Taco's

I had never bought Lauren a soft taco before, I would always buy the cheese roll-up because I knew that was something she would eat. I had tried hamburgers but she didn't like that...she loves Chicken nuggets/tenders but I just thought since she didn't like hamburgers she probably would not like taco's either. Well one day last week she came up to me and wanted a bite of my burrito...she liked it! So yesterday after church we drove through Taco Bell and I thought I would just give this soft taco thing a whirl...man am I glad I did! She ate 3/4's the soft taco! So I guess we have found something new for her to eat! :-)

Nice Sunny Day!

So Sunday while I was at class for church, Kristen and Lauren played outside. They went to the park and Kristen said Lauren was fearless! This is what I saw when I drove up. They had been sitting outside playing with Lauren's baby. I'm not sure, but there are days I wonder if she loves her Aunt Kissy more than me! :-)

Poor Baby!

I got a call yesterday afternoon that Lauren had ran into the corner of a shelf at school. They called just to let me know because they said it was a bad hit & fall. They were putting ice on it and I asked if she was ok and then I heard her laughing in the background...She was trying to put the ice pack on her teachers head instead of her head and she thought it was funny. :-) So I knew she was ok, but I always feel so bad for her because with little ones you never know how much it's hurting etc since they can't really tell you because it's the first time they are feeling that. When I picked her up she was acting fine, but her poor little head...take a look.

The good news is I was expecting her to have a black and blue forehead/eye this morning, but there was only the red mark this morning! So hopefully it will heal quickly.
